With hurricane season set to start June 1, St. Charles Parish President Albert Laque expressed extreme frustration in trying to complete a hurricane protection levee for the parish's vulnerable southern flank, the west bank. This is especially taxing, considering the near miss St. Charles Parish experienced with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
|Fire destroys 51 Willowdale golf carts

On Sunday evening, March 12, the golf cart barn at Willowdale Country Club burst into flames around 6:30 p. m. A neighbor of the club spotted the fire and called 911. The fire department responded and quickly gained control of the blaze. According to officials at Willowdale, the cause of the fire may have been electrical.

Lenten fish fry
The Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council #9933 is holding Annual Lenten Fish Fries on Fridays during Lent. The meals will be served at the community center at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling, Dinner will be from 5pm until sold out. Menu includes fried fish, french fries, fried shrimp, coleslaw and bread. Cost is $6.00 for a large plate and $5.00 for a small plate. Dessert and cold drinks will be available.

Last Thursday, a Boutte woman received 10 years in the Louisiana Department of Corrections for maltreatment and theft of an elderly man in her care. On the same day, a Luling woman received 8 years for hurting a child.
