Sheriff Greg Champagne reports that crime in St. Charles Parish rose 4.7% in 2006. The total number of crimes rose from 2,180 in 2005 to 2,283 in 2006.

I encourage property owners to write the governor, the tax commissioner and the state legislature to ask for tax relief.”

He leaves to cherish his parents, Olevia Stipe and Henry Lewis; children Vernell Jr., Jia-Mona and Brandon Mayers; brothers Reginald and Roderick Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 9 at Children of Israel Baptist Church in Killona at 11 a.m. Passover at Killona Fire House.
