N.O. woman slugs parent at Hahnville football game

A 19-year-old New Orleans woman was arrested following Hahnville's 34-28 victory over O. Perry Walker.

John Tyler, 28, Des Allemands was the sixth person arrested and charged with child pornography this year. As with all arrests, those charged are innocent until proved guilty. Child pornography arrests raise question: ‘Are parish kids safe?’

Hahnville came out on a mission last Friday evening handing their former 6-5A district rivals a 38-point shellacking. The Tigers (2-0 overall, 0-0 5-5A) got off to a shaky start as they won the toss and elected to receive -- only to fumble the kickoff. The defense took the field and forced Central Lafourche to a three and out, and for the second week in a row, the defensive front four found themselves in the opposing teams backfield frequently.

On Sept. 6 Dow Epoxy, a business unit of the Dow Chemical Company, announced that it intends to close the PXC plant at the St. Charles Operations site owned by Union Carbide Corporation in Hahnville by Oct. 31.

Wife of August Martin Jr. Sister of Rev. Vernon (Yvonne) Alexander Sr., Arthur (Alberta) Bailey Sr., Lawrence (Alma Lee) Bailey, Lurlee A. Green, the late Elouise Johnson, Rev. Robert Sr., Joseph Jr. and Edmond Alexander. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Age 72. A native and resident of Norco. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of the Greater Good Baptist Church and all neighboring churches were invited to attend the funeral service at Greater Good Baptist Church, 47 Cathey St., Norco on Wed., Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. Rev. Willie Dewey, Pastor, officiating. Interment Montz Memorial Park Cemetery in Montz. Visitation was held at the above church from 10 a.m. until service time. Serviced by Robottom.
