St. Charles Parish will celebrate July 4th with spectacular fireworks and live music on Tuesday, July 3, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling. The fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.
|Public input sought on KV landfill growth plan

Killona Ventures, LLC a construction and demolition landfill located on Hwy 3127 in Killona, wants to nearly double in land size and accept more hazardous materials. A resolution to support increasing the size of the landfill from 75 acres to 144 acres was tabled at the June 4 council meeting after councilman Barry Minnich said the public should be given more time to comment on the proposed expansion. He also said the landfill smells bad. Councilman Brian Fabre expressed his concerns that KV landfill is located in one of the few areas in the parish left to develop. Desmond Hillaire, councilman for district 1 where the landfill is located, tabled the resolution and called for a town hall meeting in mid-July to discuss the expansion with all the parties involved.

Firefighters from four different departments in St. Charles Parish responded to a fire at South East Seafood in Des Allemands during the early morning hours of June 8.

The Rose Casino in the St. Rose Travel Center was robbed in the early morning hours of June 24, according to the St. Charles Sheriffís Office who responded to the incident.

Summer League Baseball: Boys
Season Update: This summer the boys are racking up some playing time on the field with games almost every other day agianst various competitive teams in the area. Recently on the line-up, the Tigers played Grace King, the Southland Hogs, and most recently Bonnebell High. Outstanding performances go to Adam Risinger for solid pitching, Ryan Waters for hitting a grandslam, the second of his high school baseball career, and Colby Broussard for excellent defense tactics. It is must see event, and the Tigers need all of their fansí support. This weekend, June 22-24, the Tigers will travel to Foley to play in a competitive tournament agianst teams from around the South.
