HHS Sports Week with Megan Waters

Girls Track

Season update: On March 23 and 24, the girls' track team traveled to compete in the Nokia Sugar Bowl Classic, held at the Tad Gormley stadium. This invitational meet is a two-day event and is the largest high school track meet in the south. Over 100 boys and girls come from Louisiana and surrounding states travel to compete. Hahnville placed 3rd overall and had many athletes win in individual events.

It's time for district baseball in St. Charles, and the boys teams for Destrehan and Hahnville high schools have both gotten off to great start.

Thick gray clouds and a serious chance of rain didn't stop dozens of children of all ages from crowding fields near the Bayou Gauche Fire Station to hunt for 7,600 plastic eggs stuffed with yummy candy a full week before Easter Sunday.

Archdiocese: Hannan Responding Well To Therapy

NEW ORLEANS -- Former New Orleans Archbishop Phillip Hannan has been released from a Covington hospital. The 93-year-old suffered a stroke last Friday. He is now being treated at an intermediate care facility. Archdiocese spokesman the Rev. William Maestri said Hannan's movement and speech are improving and that he is responding well to therapy. Hannan served as archbishop of New Orleans from 1965 to 1989.- WDSU.com
