K C BBQ Chicken

HAHNVILLE - Knights of Columbus Council 2409 will hold its annual Barbecue Chicken Dinner on Sunday, April 25 at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church in Hahnville.

The dinner will consist of a half chicken, baked beans, cole slaw and bread and will cost $7. Desserts and drinks will also be available. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will be available after all Masses on the weekend of April 10 & 11 and 17 & 18 at the church in Hahnville and St. Anthony’s Church in Luling. Tickets may also be purchased by calling Kenny Gonzales at (985)785-6750 after 5 p.m.

Public Range days coming up soon

ST. CHARLES PARISH - The St. Charles Sheriff’s Office will allow the public to use the St. Charles Firing Range to shoot handguns only. Anyone wishing to use the range will be required to attend a 30-minute safety briefing, which will be held at the range from 8 a.m. to noon on:
April 24,
May 8 and 22, and
June 5 and 19.
The public range hours on those days will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m.
All participants are required to bring proper ID and their own targets, safety glasses, hearing protection, baseball cap, staple gun and staples. All weapons must be transported to the range in a suitable device, such as a gun box or holster. No weapons can be brought to the range loaded and weapons must be left in the vehicle during the safety briefing and until all required paperwork is completed. No one under 18 years old will be allowed to fire weapons at the range.

Cajun Dancers will perform at market

DESTREHAN - The Allemands Elementary School 2nd grade Cajun Dancers will perform at the east bank location of the German Coast Farmers’ Market at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24. The LSU Ag Center will be taking registrations and distributing written guidelines for the Preserve Contest to be held July 10.

Cancer survivors unite

ST. CHARLES PARISH - Join the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in St. Charles Parish survivors celebration and share your evening with fellow cancer survivors who have faced the battle with cancer and are winning. The celebration will feature food, fun and entertainment.

It will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 375 Spruce St., Norco.

Registration will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Please RSVP to 785-1037. Each Cancer Survivor may bring one guest. There is no charge to participate.

HHS Drama to put on “Your Guardian Angel”

HAHNVILLE - The Hahnville High School Drama Club will perform the world premiere production of “Your Guardian Angel,” written and directed by club president Angelle Dufrene.

Cost for tickets is $7 for adults and $5 for students. They will be available at the door.

The performance will be on April 22 and 24 at 7 p.m. in the Hahnville High Auditorium. All HHS Faculty/Staff get in free with faculty ID. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit future Drama Club productions.

Auditions being held for “The King and I”

ST. CHARLES PARISH - River Region Drama Guild, Inc. celebrates the 20th Anniversary of St. Charles Theater with an encore production of The King and I.

Auditions will be held at the River Region Performing Arts and Cultural Center, 15146 River Road, Good Hope (formerly the Good Hope School). Auditions will be held on April 13 at 6:30 p.m. for adults, both male and female, ages 16 and up.

Auditions for children and young adults, male and female, ages 8 to 15, will be held on Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Dancers, both male and female, ages 13 to adult, interested in auditioning for a part in the ballet, which is included, should attend the dance audition on Tuesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Festival of Charities holds pageants and butterfly extravaganza

DESTREHAN - The Festival of Charity, Inc. will hold its annual pageants and butterfly extravaganza on Sunday, April 11 at Ormond Plantation in Destrehan. The theme this year is “Beauties in Bloom.”

Pageant contestants can register at the door 30 minutes prior to each division. There will be pageant divisions for baby and youth boys ages 0-18 months and 18-36 months, and baby and youth girls ages 0-7 months, 8-14 months, 15-23 months, 2-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-7 years and 8-9 years. All divisions accept special children as princes and
princesses. There will also be a pageant for junior, teen and miss divisions for girls ages 10-12 years old who are Louisiana residents, have never been married or conceived a child.
