Farmers’ market holds Easter parade

DESTREHAN - The German Coast Farmers’ Market will hold its kids’ Easter parade on Saturday, April 11 at Ormond Plantation located on River Road in Destrehan from 8 a.m. to noon.

In addition to the parade, the Easter Bunny will be on hand to visit with children. A “Tastes of the Season” booth will be open to the public along with a library display.

The market will also feature weekly seafood and meat specials, lots of fresh produce and other value-added items.

Get free clothes at church give-a-way

LULING - The First Baptist Church of Luling will hold a free clothes distribution for all parish residents on Saturday, April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the church grounds located at 921 Paul Maillard Rd. in Luling.

A free Christian concert featuring Destrehan musician Jake Smith will follow the distribution from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Smith is also scheduled to perform at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on April 25.

‘Dig’ for diamonds at blood drive

KENNER - The Blood Center’s annual “Dig for Diamonds” blood drive will take place at the Esplanade Mall on April 9 through 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the lower level next to the Ann Taylor Loft store.

Donors will be invited to “dig” for diamonds and other prizes donated by Esplanade merchants.

Prizes include gift certificates and merchandise from Esplanade stores, and diamond jewelry donated by Mr. Goldman. All donors will also receive a Blood Center T-shirt, family blood coverage and a cholesterol check.

Grab your basket, egg hunt April 11

LULING - The St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department will hold its first annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11 at the West Bank Bridge park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. A hat contest will also be held at 10 a.m.

The hunt is open to kids ages 1 to 10 years. A $2 donation is required to participate.

The hunt is sponsored in conjunction with the Special Olympics and Caring Strategies.

BOUTTE - The Hahnville High School band is holding registration for the 2009-10 school year on April 9, April 23 and May 21 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the HHS band room.

All band students and a parent must attend one of these sessions in order to fill out registration papers and pay band fees.
