For the past ten years, a portrait of Jesus Christ in the Slidell City Court created no controversy. It had been hanging in the lobby of the courthouse ever since it was originally constructed in 1997. In that time, not one person had complained to court officials.

Some 32 Mimosa Park Elementary students became drama club members for two weeks in June and sang a tribute to America with songs honoring our country on flag day. The four renditions were: “You’re a Grand Old Flag, American Tears, God Bless America and Let’s Keep America Great.” This was the second act of the Excerpts from Annie program performed in the Mimosa Park Elementary school to a packed auditorium.

Destrehan High School English teacher Shelley Dufresne, who is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student, pled not guilty to carnal knowledge of a juvenile on Tuesday in St. Charles Parish.
