|Celebrate turkey day at farmer’s market

DESTREHAN - A Thanksgiving celebration is planned for Saturday, Nov. 17 at the German Coast Farmer’s Market at Ormond Plantation on River Road in Destrehan from 8 a.m. to noon.
Plan to shop for fresh fall produce including cauliflower, broccoli, shallots, sweet potatoes, mustard greens and satsumas while enjoying the live Cajun sounds of Cajun Friends.
Hayrides and face painting will be available and their will be farmers on hand to provide you with information about upcoming programs and events.
Visit the welcome booth to check out the local cook books and historical works of art.
|First convoy of hope being held Nov. 17

DES ALLEMANDS - The first St. Charles Convoy of Hope will be held on Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at the old Lions Club Park in Des Allemands located at 16976 U.S. Highway 90.
Local businesses, churches and community groups are working together to present the event which will benefit local, less fortunate families.
Free groceries, hair cuts, and a health fair will be provided to attendees.

BOUTTE - The Families for Home Education 4-H Club will be selling $1 raffle tickets for a Thanksgiving dinner basket at Majoria's Grocery Store in Boutte on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The basket includes holiday decorations, a gift certificate for a turkey, stuffing mix, peas, carrots, corn, canned pumpkin, pie crust, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, french onion rings, dirty rice and much, much more.
All proceeds will benefit the FHE's service learning projects.

|Seniors group sets Mardi Gras events

HAHNVILLE - The St. Charles Council on Aging has released the dates for their Krewe of the Young At Heart special Mardi Gras events.
The Mardi Gras Brunch will be held on Friday, Nov. 16 at 9 a.m. and the Mardi Gras Coronation Tea is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Hahnville Center located at 626 Pine St.
The 12th Annual Mardi Gras Ball will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Jerusalem Shrine Temple Mosque located at 1940 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.

LULING - The St. Charles Women’s Club will be hosting its annual autumn auction on Nov. 15 at the Presbyterian Church on Lakewood Dr. in Luling the civic organization will auction items.
Anthony Lucia will be the auctioneer.
Beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday enjoy complimentary refreshments as you bid on some spectacular items, with money returning to St. Charles Parishes charitable organizations.

The Hahnville High School marching band has worked very hard this year perfecting their show titled “Out of the World” which featured music by David Bowie, Gustav Holst, John Williams and Pink Floyd - and all their hard work has paid off, earning the group three superior ratings.

The Des Allemands Gators 7 and 8-year-old football team had an undefeated season with a perfect record of 12-0, ending the season by winning the St. Charles Parish Championship on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Hahnville seems to be peaking at just the right time. The Tigers strutted out to a 42-0 halftime lead over Huntington last week before dispatching the Raiders by a 56-8 score to advance to the second round of the 2007 Class 5A state playoffs.
