Jambalaya & bake sale will benefit Lou Gehrig’s disease

HAHNVILLE - Each day in the United States, about 14 people are diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and are left with only three to five years to live. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is an incurable fatal neuromuscular disease characterized by progressive muscle weakness, resulting in paralysis.
Come out and support the ALS Jambalaya and Bake Sale Fundraiser on Friday, Aug. 13 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Parish Courthouse lobby. The event costs $5 per plate and all proceeds raised will benefit ALS.
Most of those who develop the disease are between 40 and 70 years of age. The average expected survival time for those suffering from ALS is three to five years. At any given time, approximately 30,000 people in the United States are living with the disease. The cause of ALS remains unclear and no cure exists.
