Ballet will perform children’s production of The Nutcracker

DESTREHAN - River Region Ballet will present a special children’s matinee production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10. This will be an abbreviated one-hour performance for younger fans.

This performance will be followed by a “Sugar Plum Party” when the audience members will be invited to join the Sugar Plum Fairy onstage and experience “The Kingdom of Sweets” for themselves. Each young audience member will be given a special gift to remember their Nutcracker experience.

Christmas Trot for Tripp

HAMMOND - A Christmas Trot for Tripp, a charity fundraiser, will take place on Dec. 11 at 8:30 a.m. at Cate Square Park in Hammond. The event is a 5k run/walk. There will be refreshments, inflatables from Jump n’ Jive and Dream Jumpers LLC and facepainting for kids. The $20 entry fee includes a t-shirt. Shirts can be bought for a $10 donation if not running race. Strollers and wagons are welcome and people are encouraged to come dressed in their holiday best.
