Destrehan – St. Charles Parish 4-H is seeking new members for its Shooting Sports program that focuses on instructing participants in firearm safety and sportsmanship. Parents and youth (Ages 10 - 19) either residing or attending school in St. Charles Parish are invited to attend an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the East Regional Library, 160 West Campus Drive in Destrehan. Business Networking Event

Luling - St. Charles Parish will host its first SCP Business Exchange at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling. In addition to promoting networking with the parish business community, parish officials want to resume a local business association at the event. Attendees are asked to bring business cards and post their support of the event using the hashtag#ShopStCharles. There is no charge to attend the event. St. Rose – The St. Rose Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Group will hold a barbeque pulled pork lunch/dinner fundraiser Sept. 30 to help offset medical expenses for Christi Fraychineaud, teacher at St. Rose Elementary and single mother of three. St. John the Baptist holding Family Day and fundraiser

Nutcracker auditions

Destrehan – The River Region Ballet will hold auditions for the River Region Performing Arts & Cultural Center, 15146 River Road, Norco, on Aug. 27. Boys age 5 to 11 will audition from 10 to 10:30 a.m.; boys 12 and older, 10:30 to 11 a.m.; girls 5 to 8 years, 11 to noon; girls 9 to 12 years old, 12:15 to 1:45 p.m., dancers 13 years or older, 2 to 4 p.m., and men and women interested in theatrical roles, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dancers interested in auditioning on pointe should bring their pointe shoes to auditions. There is a $15 audition fee. Audition forms must be completed and signed by a responsible adult. All dancers must sign in a half hour prior to audition time.
