Interactive nutrition workshop

DESTREHAN - The St. Charles Parish Library and Second Harvest Food Bank will hold a “Harvesting Health” interactive nutrition workshop at 10 a.m. June 23 at East Regional Library, 160 W. Campus Drive, Destrehan. A second session will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Paradis Branch, 307 Audubon St. The workshop will focus on reading nutrition labels and MyPlate, which provides information about the building blocks for a healthy diet. UW is asking for donations of new or gently used children’s books appropriate for early childhood through fifth grade reading levels prior to the event. Book donations can be dropped off at the United Way of St. Charles office at 13207 River Road Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to noon, leading up to the event. Volunteers of all ages are needed to assist with the book swap. Zoning open house

HAHNVILLE - The St. Charles Parish Planning and Zoning Department will host an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 4 in the Courthouse Council Chambers, 15045 River Road, to discuss proposed changes to the parish’s zoning ordinance completed as part of Phase I of an ongoing modernization project.

Those interested in reviewing the proposed changes can download them from the news section of the parish website at www.stcharlesparish-la.gov/news beginning May 28.
