Hahnville High School wrestler Nicholas Lirette impressed at the Brute Nationals Wrestling Championship in Independence, Mo., finishing second in the 115-pound weight class for those in the 10th grade.

Golfers from Hahnville and Destrehan dominated the District 7-5A All-District Team, with the Tigers placing four members on the squad and the Wildcats landing three on the team.

The Hahnville track and field team won the District 7-5A championship last week by scoring 124.50 points. Track team members are: Larry Boyd, Mattray Nedd, Beau Robinson, Bryce Robinson, Devonte Cravin, Johnathan Franklin, Isiah Coleman, Jay Pertuit, Jai Knight, Brock Bourgeois, Jalen Knight, Lamar Foster, Kaelan White and Brandon Singleton. The Hahnville boys’ track and field team won their second-straight district championship last Thursday. The Tigers cruised to the District 7-5A title by scoring 124.50 points, edging out second place Thibodaux by 20 points.

Hahnville’s baseball season came to an end Tuesday night with a 5-3 loss to Rummel in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. But the Tigers didn’t go down without a fight as they went toe-to-toe with the Raiders in a thrilling 10-inning game.

The Destrehan Wildcats locked up the District 7-5A championship with wins over Central Lafourche, South Lafourche and H.L. Bourgeois, outscoring those three opponents by a combined score of 31-3.

The Hahnville Tigers lost another one-run heartbreaker to rival Destrehan on Saturday, but they were able to cruise past Thibodaux and knock off Terrebonne to secure second place in District 7-5A with an 8-2 record.

In the last week, the Wildcats cemented their position at the top of the standings by scoring 24 runs in victories over South Lafourche and H.L. Bourgeois.
