Aubrey Merrell Batson, Sr. passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14 in Houma. A U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of WWII. Husband of the late Sylvia Mercedes Batson. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Batson. Father of Peggy Falla and husband Joe Falla; John Batson and girlfriend Karen Peters; the late Aubrey M. Batson Jr. William (Billy) Batson, Sue Tesch, Anita Gaubert and Mary Massengale. Father-in-law of Elaine peters Batson. Brother of Eugen McFarren and Vonda Morton. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Age 80, a native of Earle, Arkansas and resident in Houma. Visitation was at Alexander Funeral Home Norco at 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday Jan 16. A private Graveside Service followed the visitation. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Terrebone House Asst. living, Terrebone General Hospital and the Gulf State L.T.A.C unit, all of Houma Alexander Funeral Home of Norco.

Vernell Chadwick Stipe, age 37, on Jan. 12, 2007. He leaves to cherish his parents, Olevia Stipe and Henry Lewis; children Vernell Jr., Jia-Mona and Brandon Mayers; brothers Reginald and Roderick Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 9 at Children of Israel Baptist Church in Killona at 11 a.m. Passover at Killona Fire House.

Dick “Pick” Griffin died on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 2 a.m. at St. Charles Hospital in Luling. A native and lifelong resident of Boutte. Age 54 years. Father of Bonnie Naquin, son of Ellis and Elma Griffin. Brother of Gerald Griffin, Ellis Griffin Jr., Donald Griffin, Irma Vicknair, Dolores Gassen, Audrey Breaux, Mary Leblanc, Phyllis Breaux and Annette Gray. Also survived by four grandchildren. Relative and friend of the family were invited to attend the mass of Christian burial at St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis on Dec. 7. Interment was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Raceland. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangement.

Doris B. Comardelle, on Monday, November 27, 2006 at 10:14 P.M. in Luling, LA. Beloved wife of the late Roy Paul Comardelle. Mother of Roy A. Comardelle, Betty C. Meacham, Diane C. Rome, Pamela C. Schaubhut and the late Dwayne J. Comardelle. Daughter of the late Henry and Anita Leonard Bergeron. Sister of Leroy Bergeron and the late Standley, Clifton, Henry Bergeron, Thelma Oursi, Stella LeBoeuf and Alice Babin. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by 1 grandchild. Age 78 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Abraham "AJ" Jimmie Frickey on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 in Jefferson. Son of the late Jimmie Frickey and Lovinia Ochman Frickey. Father of Keith Frickey, Dana Frickey, Dale Frickey, Trina Frickey, Lori Latiolais, Judy Sumrall and Monica Madere. Brother of Nolan Frickey Sr. and Gerladine Dennis. Preceded by his wife, the late Bevery Eusea Frickey. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Age 73 years. A native of Luling and a resident of Bayou Gauche where he lived in his house boat. He was a decorated Korean War veteran having received the Untied Nations Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Presidentail Unit Citation. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to a mass of Christian burial on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 8:30 a.m. until funeral time. Falgout Funeral Homes LLC in charge of arrangements.

Sister of Cleveland Williams Jr. (Alcenia), Darryl WIlliams, Gregory Williams Jr. (Diana), Renee Williams (David), Rosanne Williams, Trashon Smith (Derrick) and Cleveland Williams III. Grandmother of Christian Williams. Also survived by two aunts, Gloria Blakes and Judy Mathis, a host of nieces and nephews, other relative and friends. Age 47 years. Native of Luling and a resident of McKinney, Texas. Janice Marie Guss on Sat., Sept 23 in an automobile accident in LaPlace. Daughter of Octavia S. Guss and the late Herman Guss Jr. Sister of Lysandra Johnson, Terry and Rodney Guss and the late Herman Guss, III. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 46 years. A native of Hahnville and a resident of LaPlace. “Janice worked most recently in the Technology department at the school board office, after working her way up from secretary, in special education, to part time college student after working all day, then became a middle school teacher at Landry Middle School. She was promoted to the technology department where she found her calling. Janice touched so many of our lives,” said friend Pam Dufrene. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of Our Lady of Grace and Holy Rosary Catholic Churches and all neighboring churches were invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1 Rectory Lane in Hahnville on Thurs., Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. Father Bernard Francis, celebrant. Interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft. Visitation at the above named church was held from 8 a.m. until mass time.
