Jesse Denton, Sr.
Jesse L. "Josh" Denton, Sr. of Destrehan "New Sarpy." A native of Calhoun County, Mississipi, passed into eternal glory on Wednesday Feb. 28 at 8:00PM. Born Sept. 9, 1921, he was 85 years old. He leaves his wife of 66 ½ years, Virgina P. Denton; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Donald Clarke of Hammond. 2 sons and daughters-in-law; Jesse L. Denton, Jr. and Barbra of Ducala, GA and Thomas H. Denton and Diane of Baton Rouge; 7 grandchildren; Sherry G. Dickens of Waxahchie, TX. Kim B. Hendrix of Tueplo, MS. 1 sister, Jane LaBorne of Morgan City and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a preceded by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Hammond Denton; and 1 brother Elliss H. Denton of Slate Springs, MS. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veterans, a mason of over 50 years. He retired from T.L. James Co., Inc. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenner. He was in the care of Cannon Hospice for the past year. Thanks to them for his good care. A special thanks to family and friends and Cannon Hospice- Dr. Persige, Sandy, Tennecia, Kim and Crissy.

Patsy Price Soudelier Rousse
Passed away on Feb. 28 in Paradis. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Soudelier, Sr. by first marriage and the late Carlton Rousse by second marriage. Mother of Lloyd Jr., Wayne, Todd Soudelier, Sandra Withers and Tammy Soudelier. Daughter of the Late Melvin and Lena Matis Price. Sister of the late Melvin "Leroy" Price. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A native of Des Allemands and a resident of Paradis. She was 62 years old.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis on Friday March 2 at 3:00pm. Visitation from 11:00am until funeral time Friday at the church. Falgout Funeral Homes.

Mother of Eunice Chalsson and the late Sally Roberts. Sister of Mildred Colon, Anna Mae Dufrene, the late Emmett Granier and Gladys Roussel. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Age 80 years. A native of Wallace, LA and a resident of Norco, LA. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norco, LA. Interment St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan, LA. Sister of Harris Dufrene and the late Alvin, Louis, Lawrence, Harry, Ernest Dufrene, Alida Barrios, Cecile Tamburello, Elle Dufrene, Mildred Reed, and Irene Hano.

Aubrey Merrell Batson, Sr. passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14 in Houma. A U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of WWII. Husband of the late Sylvia Mercedes Batson. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Batson. Father of Peggy Falla and husband Joe Falla; John Batson and girlfriend Karen Peters; the late Aubrey M. Batson Jr. William (Billy) Batson, Sue Tesch, Anita Gaubert and Mary Massengale. Father-in-law of Elaine peters Batson. Brother of Eugen McFarren and Vonda Morton. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Age 80, a native of Earle, Arkansas and resident in Houma. Visitation was at Alexander Funeral Home Norco at 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday Jan 16. A private Graveside Service followed the visitation. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Terrebone House Asst. living, Terrebone General Hospital and the Gulf State L.T.A.C unit, all of Houma Alexander Funeral Home of Norco.

Vernell Chadwick Stipe, age 37, on Jan. 12, 2007. He leaves to cherish his parents, Olevia Stipe and Henry Lewis; children Vernell Jr., Jia-Mona and Brandon Mayers; brothers Reginald and Roderick Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 9 at Children of Israel Baptist Church in Killona at 11 a.m. Passover at Killona Fire House.

Dick “Pick” Griffin died on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 2 a.m. at St. Charles Hospital in Luling. A native and lifelong resident of Boutte. Age 54 years. Father of Bonnie Naquin, son of Ellis and Elma Griffin. Brother of Gerald Griffin, Ellis Griffin Jr., Donald Griffin, Irma Vicknair, Dolores Gassen, Audrey Breaux, Mary Leblanc, Phyllis Breaux and Annette Gray. Also survived by four grandchildren. Relative and friend of the family were invited to attend the mass of Christian burial at St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis on Dec. 7. Interment was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Raceland. Abraham "AJ" Jimmie Frickey on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 in Jefferson. Son of the late Jimmie Frickey and Lovinia Ochman Frickey. Father of Keith Frickey, Dana Frickey, Dale Frickey, Trina Frickey, Lori Latiolais, Judy Sumrall and Monica Madere. Brother of Nolan Frickey Sr. and Gerladine Dennis. Preceded by his wife, the late Bevery Eusea Frickey. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Age 73 years. A native of Luling and a resident of Bayou Gauche where he lived in his house boat. He was a decorated Korean War veteran having received the Untied Nations Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Presidentail Unit Citation. A New Sarpy man was arrested after police responding to a drug call discovered 17 starved pit bull terriers in his home, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
