On Aug. 24 at approximately 2 a.m., a 32-year-old Paradis man was robbed at knife-point at a local bank located on River Road in Destrehan as he attempted to make a night deposit for his employer.

A year ago my neighbor, Renee Riddick, went to work at Memorial Hospital as Katrina rolled ashore near Buras. She was on call that stormy weekend as a newborn nurse. Husband David decided to take their three girls to Austin, TX to ride out the storm.

If you are a parent or student in St. Charles Parish Public Schools, chances are you have noticed the significant changes to the district's websites, informational material and the newly issued "InBox" packets given to students for parents on the first day of school, all of which are embossed with the same new slogan, "You and I…We are St. Charles Parish Schools".
