It looks like St. Charles Parish will be well represented in the upcoming session of the state legislature. Dem. Sen. Joel Chaisson II apparently will serve as Senate president, having secured the backing of many Democratic and Republican senators and also the endorsement of Rep. Gov. Elect-Bobby Jindal.

At one time, St. Charles Parish was a hot spot for illegal gambling in the State of Louisiana. Many of the restaurants and bars along major thoroughfares had slot machines which were very popular among locals and visitors though in violation of the law.

Gov.-Elect Bobby Jindal did not say much about saving the Louisiana coast during the election campaign just past. But there was probably a political reason.
