With a cold and icy winter still trying to keep us in tow, it is time to relax and enjoy the carnival spirit which arrives this weekend in southeast Louisiana. Here in St. Charles Parish, residents are getting ready to celebrate at the Krewe of Lul parade, which starts Saturday at noon, and the Krewe of Des Allemands parade, which begins at 1 p. m. Sunday.

Hahnville junior Kendrick Jones became the second wrestler in his school’s history to win a state championship when he claimed a 4-2 sudden victory over Daniel Relayson of Holy Cross in the finals of the 195-pound weight class.

A Kenner woman and her mother are accused of using a hammer and knife to attack and injure four St. Rose women inside their home. One of the victims says she was knocked unconscious by the hammer while another was stabbed three times, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
