U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon has announced that ports in south Louisiana would receive over $3.2 million in federal grants to assist with improving port security.

Army Pvt. Andre Arceneaux has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of LeRoy Arceneaux of Norco. Arceneaux is a 2005 graduate of Destrehan High School.

A St. Rose mother and her boyfriend were arrested after authorities say they used a fake ID when registering two girls for St. Rose Elementary School.
