Fourth, fifth and sixth grade students showcased their science knowledge at a special Science Night held recently, at Lakewood Elementary. Science Night is part of an innovative program, "Putting Students in the Driver's Seat: An exploration of Motion and Force," that was awarded $1,960 by Dow's Educational Enhancement Grant last year.

Several Lakewood Elementary sixth graders recently received awards at the State Science Fair at LSU. Among the students competing in the division were Austin Savoie-placing 4th in Physics, Jared Bosco and Thomas Hymel taking 3rd in team projects, and Michelle Bourgeois winning 1st in Behavioral. Michelle also won 3rd overall in the Junior Division and received the Louisiana Gulf Coast Section Institute of Food Technologist Special Award.
