I was quite excited when I found the invitation to the office Christmas party stuffed in my mailbox at work. I missed last year’s big bash because I couldn’t shake the nasty flu bug I had caught, so this year was my first chance to see what really happens when my co-workers let their hair down.

KNOW THE LAWS. The St. Charles Council On Aging and the Friloux-Robertson American Legion Post 509 hosted a fair for area seniors on free legal assistance and other aid available to seniors in the parish.

I’ve always felt that I have carried a spiritual presence with me through out my life. Like someone or something was always watching over me, but there were never any real signs - until now.

BOUTTE - Hahnville High School students in Melinda Rappold’s Family and Consumer Science classes made Sugar Babies using a 5 lb. bag of sugar as the base of the baby to help students better understand the responsibilities involved in the day-to-day care of a baby.

A LESSON LEARNED. Retired home economics teacher, Robbie Tomeny, was a guest speaker at the LaFlambeau Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association’s November meeting. She instructed the group on how to set a holiday table.

The Louisiana satsuma was imported from Japan in the early 1800s and was immediately adapted by the populace with it’s easily separated sections of sweet, brilliant orange fruit and easy to peel, mottled green and yellow skin - and local sellers say that they are still in high demand.

Thanksgiving has come and gone. The relatives have packed into their minivans and are homeward bound. The only remains left from Thanksgiving dinner are probably a turkey leg wrapped in aluminum foil that needs to be thrown out and a small container of that runny oyster dressing you didn't like so much.
