	Hahnville High School wrestler wins state championships May 10, 2006 at 12:40 pm Winner of 171 lb. weight class at the state finals, Levi Gruwell began his competitive wrestling career when he won the Junior Wrestling State Championships at age eight. From there he grew into a victorious wrestler, competing this past year at the State Wrestling Championships on February 17 and 18 at the Ponchatrain Center in Kenner and wrestling his way to number one in his weight class."

The defending state champ distanced themselves from the field with a strong team performance.

	Destrehan's softball team closes out season May 03, 2006 at 11:25 am Destrehan Girl's Softball Team placed second in the district and ended their season losing in the first round of the play-offs against Natchitoches Central with a score of 4-1.

	A Field of Dreams May 03, 2006 at 11:22 am It is that time of year again when our young children will begin to discover their field of dreams. Alex Waltz, now 15, has loved the game of baseball since the age of two. “He started with a plastic Coke bottle as his bat and the cap to the bottle as his ball,” said his mother Shannon Waltz. “He loves the game; he has a passion for the game,” adding that the Booster Club has allowed his dream to become a reality at a young age.

	Tigers sweep the pair and the title April 26, 2006 at 11:23 am In both rivalry games against Destrehan, Hahnville's program of excellence won them the rightful title of District 5-5A Champions. In their game on Thursday, Hahnville beat Destrehan 14-10. On Saturday, Hahnville took their second victory against Destrehan with a win of 2-0.

	DHS to take on HHS this week in baseball April 19, 2006 at 12:16 pm The Destrehan High School Wildcat Baseball Team started the season 9-0. After a few losses their current record is 17-7, managing to secure their place in the district tournament. This year will be the team's fifth trip to the state tournament.

	Hahnville Boys and Girls run into first April 19, 2006 at 12:11 pm Destrehan hosted their annual Invitational on April 13. The participating teams, including Destrehan. were East St. John, McMain, Hahnville, Higgins and West St. John.

"One challenge that faces me as a coach is keeping the kids focused on softball when Spring is here and it brings on many other activities that seem to take precedent over winning games," said Kenneth Vial, Hahnville’s Head Coach.

	Luling couple runs for the ages March 29, 2006 at 1:25 pm This weekend during the Valero's United Way Bridge Run/Walk two familiar faces will be competing in the 70 and over age group, Amelia and Arthur Gassen. At 78 and 81 respectively, these two have climbed Hale Boggs Bridge numerous times, with Arthur winning the event several times.
