	Ormond Country Club Swim Team is in full swing June 28, 2006 at 2:27 pm Ormond Country Club swim season is in full swing. The club’s swim team has three more meets before concluding their season with a show down between Ormond and Hill Heights Country Clubs.

Head Coach, Nicole Matherne, says despite their recent losses she is happy with the progress of her swimmers. "We have lost our first two meets but the kids are improving with every practice and every meet. And that is what is important to me," said Matherne.

	Southard drafted by Cardinals June 14, 2006 at 11:45 am Luling native Nathan Southard made the jump this week that few, if any, ever get to make. The St. Louis Cardinals selected him in the Major League Baseball Draft. Although he was selected in the 17th round of the draft, Southard's prowess at Tulane University proved more than adequate to make the large leap to the pros.

	Hurricanes Girls Softball team in high gear June 07, 2006 at 3:02 pm In an effort to give girls a chance to play competitive softball outside of school and the recreation department, Kenneth Vial, head girls softball coach at Hahnville High School, gathered a handful of local girls and created a competitive softball team called the St. Charles Hurricanes.

"We are on our 8th game this week," said Robert Brown of the St. Charles Recreation Department. The recreation department offers competitive baseball teams for residents between the ages of 5 and 18 years-old.

Taken in the fifth round, Landry was selected 146 overall.

	Wildcats closeout season May 17, 2006 at 2:46 pm With the loss of several leading players from last year, the Destrehan Wildcats managed to complete their season taking second in the district. They entered into the playoffs tackling one game at a time.

	Hahnville runs out of steam in quarterfinals May 17, 2006 at 2:37 pm Coach Frank Cazeaux had announced his intention to step down as head coach earlier in season. Instead of miracle run through the state baseball tournament, Cazeaux and the Tiger's were sent home via the Jesuit Blue Jays.

	DHS and HHS make mark on Girls’ All-District Softball Team May 17, 2006 at 2:31 pm Hahnville High School's Girls’ Softball Team finished first in the district this past season with Destrehan High School's Girls’ Softball Team coming in at a very close second. Both teams shined during the regular season and several students from each school have been chosen to represent their teams in the 2006 All-District Girls’ Softball Team.
