Recreational crab fishing has had its ups and downs this summer, but with the waters of Lake Pontchartrain beginning to warm to temperatures in the mid-80s, more and more crabs are being pulled out of the waterway.

The St. Charles 16U All-Stars have started their summer season with a 9-0 record, winning the 2014 ASA 16U Class B Governor’s Games Championship in Hammond.

Federal waters opened for a nine-day red snapper fishing season, and one group made the most of it by reaching their limit in just an hour while fishing off Grand Isle.

Former Hahnville High School soccer player Bryan Stewart-Bennett has signed a scholarship to continue his soccer career at William Carey University.
