It was disturbing to learn that a judge has dismissed the suit by the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East for compensation from oil and gas companies because of damages to our coast that occurred during their exploration and development. The law may give them the right to do their work under permits, but it appears that most of those permits required leaving the lands and wetlands they explored in good condition when finished that would not deteriorate the Louisiana coast.

Hopefully, it is becoming less mainstream to kill human life in our world through abortion. It appears that way in our area at least as an abortion facility planned in May 2013 in the 4600 block of South Claiborne Ave. in New Orleans has yet to get off the ground.

One of them was in a runoff for governor against Edwin Edwards in which bumper stickers advertised “Vote for the crook. It’s important.” And they elected Edwards.

The United States needs to push its efforts to get other countries together on disagreements that seem to be tearing the world apart on issues such as creating a Palestinian state before a peace treaty is signed between the two countries. And there are other matters of concern, especially in the Middle East where forces of various views are trying to take control.
