| Rabies vaccine day May 19 at 2:57 pm LULING/DESTREHAN - Rabies Vaccine Day will be held May 19 at both the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling and the East Bank Bridge Park in Destrehan. Vaccines will be offered from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at a cost of $10. Micro chipping will also be offered for $20. The St. Charles Humane Society requests that all pets be brought in a carrier and/or on a leash. |

| Miss Little Red Church Food and Fun Festival Pageant May 05 at 9:42 am DESTREHAN - Applications are now being accepted for entry into the 2nd annual Miss Little Red Church Food & Fun Festival pageant, to be held at the St. Charles Borromeo School gym on Sunday, May 5. Girls from the ages of 6 months to 23 years of age may enter. This pageant is in association with the Little Red Church Food & Fun Fest held the same weekend. The Baby (6 months) to Junior (11-12 years) divisions will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Entries will be accepted at the door for these divisions. The Teen and Miss Divisions will begin competition with an interview in front of a panel of judges starting promptly at 9 a.m., with the on-stage competition to begin at 2:30 p.m. The deadline for entry is Friday, May 3 at 8 p.m. Teen Miss Little Red Church and Miss Little Red Church will be contracted to reign for one year and attend various festivals, church and school events. The 2013 Miss Little Red Church will also have the opportunity to compete for the title of Queen of Queens at the Louisiana Association of Fairs & Festivals’ annual convention in February 2014. | Garden and market festival May 04 at 9:41 am HOUMA - The TARC Garden and Market Festival in Houma will be held Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the TARC-Houma Airbase. The event will feature speakers, educational displays, plant, lawn and garden vendors, live entertainment, concessions and the ‘Ask the Experts’ booth with LSU horticulture specialists. | Farmers’ market plant exchange day May 04 at 9:40 am DESTREHAN - The German Coast Farmers’ Market will hold its spring plant exchanges on May 4 (East Bank) and May 8 (West Bank). Plants must be well established in one-half gallon or larger containers. Botanical and “popular” name and care instructions for the plant should be included. All plants will be welcome, classic pass-a-longs or not. A special award will be given to the person who brings an old southern hard-to-find-at-nurseries plant. Participants should check in at the East Bank welcome booth at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, with plants to be exchanged at 10:30 a.m. Those at the West Bank market should check in at the welcome booth at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. Plants will be exchanged at 4:30 p.m. Plants will be numbered and corresponding numbers placed in hat to be drawn at exchange time. Participants should also feel free to bring cuttings or other potted plants to share. After the exchange has taken place, those wishing to do further exchanging may do so. |

| Little Red Church Food and Fun festival May 03 at 9:40 am DESTREHAN - St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church will host its 33rd annual Little Red Church Food and Fun Festival from May 3 through 5 behind the church on River Road in Destrehan. The festival’s roots trace back to 1980, when a small group of people at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church decided to put on a modest fair to raise money for parish projects and bring the community together. |
