Wildcats batter Bourgeois 38-9 By Amy Enyart The Destrehan Fighting Wildcats celebrated Homecoming 2004 by defeating the H. L. Bourgeois Braves on Friday 38-9. The Wildcats were led by running back Chris Bullock who rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Jai Eugene also had a successful game, completing 10 out of 20 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. In the first quarter the Wildcats scored with Chris Bullock's 22-yard carry. Kyle Tizzard's kick added to the Wildcat's total. The Braves answered with a 35-yard field goal to end the quarter at Wildcats 7, Braves 3. Destrehan's Jai Eugene found wide receiver Josh Martin in the second quarter with an 18-yard pass that resulted in a touchdown. Tizzard again split the uprights for the extra point. Destrehan's third touchdown came when the Wildcats’ Josh Victorian intercepted and ran the ball to the two-yard line. Bullock carried for the two yards to score. Tizzard's kick was good for the point after. The Braves completed a 43-yard field goal for their only score of the quarter. At the end of the first half the score was Wildcats 21, Braves 6.
The Wildcats scored another touchdown in the third quarter as Bullock ran for 73 yards to reach the end zone and Tizzard's kick was good. The Braves didn't add any points to their side of the board, so the quarter ended with the Wildcats 28, Braves 6. In fourth quarter, Destrehan's James Fox recovered a fumble and returned 30 yards for another Wildcat touchdown. Tizzard added points to the board with his successful point after and a 35-yard field goal. Bourgeois made a 42-yard field goal for the final score of the night. The result was Destrehan Wildcats 38, H.L. Bourgeois 9. Destrehan will play East St. John this Friday at Joe Keller Stadium in Reserve. Kickoff is at 7 pm. |
