Parish dominates All-River Parish Track teams

The Times-Picayune recently announced its All-River Parishes Track & Field Team and several parish athletes were honored.

Destrehan’s Jai Eugene was named Outstanding Boys Track Athlete while Destrehan’s Erica Howard was named Outstanding Girls Track Athlete. Hahnville’s Ta’nesha Steib was named Outstanding Girls Field Athlete.

Destrehan’s Chaz Washington was named to the team in the shot put and the discus while Eugene was honored in the 100 meters and the 200 meters.

Several girls were honored in multiple events. Howard was named to the team in the long jump, the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. Steib was named to the team in the long jump and the triple jump. Destrehan’s Shaquieda Wells was honored in the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the 400 meters. And Hahnville’s Danielle Douglas was named to the team in the 400 meters and the 800 meters.

Others named to the boys field team included Hahnville’s Matt Matherne in the shot put and Marcus Campbell in the triple jump.

Also named to the boys track team were Hahnville’s Dale Berthelot in the 1,600 meters, Hahnville’s Dustin Naquin in the 3,200 meters and Destrehan’s James Fox in the 110 meter hurdles. Hahnville’s relay teams of Kemon Jacobs, Shaine Boyle, Derrick Scott and Dale Robertson and also Kemon Jacobs, Marcus Campbell, Ivory Washington and Dale Robertson were honored in the 400 meters and 1,600 meters respectively. Destrehan’s relay team of Milton Betton, Jai Eugene, Je’Quain Robinson and Chris Richard was honored in the 800 meters.

Also named to the girls field team were Hahnville’s Renata Brown in the shot put, Destrehan’s Ariel Hunt and Hahnville’s Kiera Davis in the discus, Hahnville’s Shunta Isaac and Kaswana Isaac in the high jump and Hahnville’s Lashele Johnson in the pole vault.

Others named to the girls track team were Hahnville’s Whitney Revader in the 100 meters and Jennifer Madere in the 1,600 meters. Hahnville’s relay team of Shunta Isaac, Brittany Raymond, Natasha Mott and Danielle Douglas and Destrehan’s relay team of Erica Howard, Shaquieda Wells, Tremaine Eugene and Schamayne Moses were both honored in the 1,600 meters.
