The Destrehan Wildcats won their first district title in boys’ soccer in the history of the school this year, and the district recognized the team in its All-District Team and awards.

Wildcat forward Donald Delatte was named the District Offensive MVP while defender Kyle Tizzard was named the defensive MVP. Wildcat head coach Ray Brown was also honored by being named Coach of the Year.

Delatte scored a team-high 37 goals this year and recorded 11 assists. He was the leader of the offense and logged several multi-goal games.

Tizzard was the cornerstone of the stingy Wildcats defense this year and provided an added asset with his dynamic throw-ins. Those throw-ins helped him lead the team in assists with 19.

Brown guided the Wildcats to a 17-6-1 overall record and a 6-1 district record. He also guided the team to a 7-2 victory over defending champion Central Lafourche in a one-game playoff for the district title.

The Wildcats also had a total of 10 players named to the All-District Team while the Hahnville Tigers had four players honored.

Named to the first team were Delatte, Tizzard, midfielder Stephen Rodrigue and goalie Nick Wahab from Destrehan. Hahnville midfielder Travis VerHey was also named to the first team.

Named to the second team were forward T.J. Favaloro, midfielders Zno Green and Luis Valladares and defender Luis Flores from Destrehan. Hahnville defender Nick Caropino was also named to the first team.

Destrehan honorable mentions included defenders Bryan Bentacourt and Matt Landry. Hahnville honorable mentions included forward Early James and midfielder Devin Samaha.
