Matherne signs with ULM By Eric LeBlanc After locking in signees in football, basketball, soccer, baseball and volleyball, Destrehan High School moved on to swimming recently as graduate Nicole Matherne signed to swim with the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Matherne is a four-year All-District swimmer and four-year letterman at Destrehan High School. She was also a Metro New Orleans High School Swim League Academic All-American Swimmer this year. She also graduated Magna Cum Laude in May. Matherne joins an Indians team that finished fifth in the Sun Belt Conference Championships this year and placed sixth at the National Independent Conference Championships. The Indians are coached by veteran head coach John Pittington who will be entering his 21st year as the swimming coach at ULM. Matherne is the daughter of Dwayne and Stacy Matherne of Destrehan.
