May 21, 2005 In The Batter's Box: Trivial Trivia
If you know me personally, you know that I am a trivia buff. And with baseball, I love obscure facts and little known statistics. I am a regular reader of ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark’s “Useless Information” column. So, I decided to do a little research and discover a few little interesting facts of my own. Here they are. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

April 30, 2005 In The Batter's Box: April Surprises
At the end of each April, the baseball community finally has some legitimate statistics to work with. Two weeks are enough to track trends and see what players are hot and cold. But a month's worth of stats are a greater sample of what kind of season a player is headed towards or they could mean absolutely nothing at all. But we here at In The Batter's Box like to think that they mean something. Otherwise, this is going to be a very short column.

April 16, 2005 In The Batter's Box: More steroids, John Rocker and fighting at Fenway
Alex Sanchez? Jorge Piedra? I think those pushing Major League Baseball for tougher steroid penalties were looking for some better first culprits than these two. March 19, 2005 In The Batter's Box: Jose makes them see
With his new book, Jose Canseco has never been more famous since 1988 when he recorded the first 40 home run, 40 stolen base season in baseball history. He is also a bitter man. Maybe it is because of the treatment he received from baseball his last three seasons as a player. Or maybe it's because he has been made the scapegoat for baseball's steroid struggles for the past few years.

April 17, 2004 In The Batter's Box: National League Preview, Part III
The National League West has been won by the San Francisco Giants or the Arizona Diamondbacks every year since 1998. The Hahnville Tigers were ranked fifth in the metro area, had defeated several state top 10 teams and had only lost two games. The American League Central race features five of the not-so-great teams in the AL, and one of the worst teams in history (last year’s Tigers). March 6, 2004 In The Batter's Box: BALCO, George & A-Rod
