Lady Tigers chipped out by Chipmunks By Eric LeBlanc The Hahnville Lady Tigers had faced the Chapelle Chipmunks in the state playoffs the past two years. And each of those times, the Lady Tigers had emerged victorious. However, Chapelle exacted revenge Monday night as they defeated Hahnville 3-1 in the regional round of the state playoffs. Scoring the lone goal for the Lady Tigers was Ashley Eusea. The teams battled to a stalemate during the first 20 minutes of the first half. Then Chapelle’s Angelle Lambert put one in to give the Chipmunks a 1-0 lead. The Lady Tigers were able to take three shots on goal in the first half, but went into halftime trailing 1-0. The start of the second half featured a strong push from the Hahnville offense. Three minutes in, Jennifer Madere had a shot on goal caught by the Chapelle goalie. For the next 20 minutes, the two teams battled again to a stalemate until Eusea put one in from 20 yards out to tie the score at 1-1. Overtime was looking more like a possibility as the closing minutes passed, but Chapelle put in two quick goals from Nazily Alcoser and Lambert in the final 10 minutes to take the game 3-1. With the loss, the Lady Tigers finish the season with an overall record of 15-6-2 and a district championship.
