Destrehan Lady Cats starting pitcher Julianne Beaugh only allowed two earned runs Tuesday afternoon, but seven errors brought home seven more runs as the St. Amant Lady Gators took a 9-0 victory.

Beaugh struck out five in five innings pitched, while allowing nine hits and only two walks. The Lady Cats were led by designated hitter Sloan Stumper on offense as she was two for two with two stolen bases. Catcher Shannon Clark had the other Lady Cat hit with a double in the fourth.

Things started out slowly in the first. An error brought home one Lady Gator, but Beaugh got out of the inning with a strikeout and a groundout to prevent more damage.

Beaugh retired the side in order in the second, logging two strikeouts to finish out the inning.

But in the third, St. Amant started the scoring run. After a double and a single, an error allowed the second St. Amant run to score. Then another single gave the Lady Gators a 3-0 lead.

The Lady Cats had their first chance to score in the third after Stumper reached base on a bunt single. She then stole second and third, but two popouts ended the inning.

In the fourth, the Lady Gators put two more runs across on two errors to take a 5-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Destrehan threatened again after Clark’s double and a walk from left fielder Kaci Wilson.

The Lady Gators scored three more in the fifth after a two-run single and another error to extend the lead to 8-0.

The Lady Cats had their last chance to score in the fifth after Stumper singled but was thrown out at home on shortstop Gabrielle Roy’s steal of second base. Roy then stole third, but a strikeout ended the inning.

After a run scored in the sixth on an error, the game was called, giving the Lady Gators a 9-0 victory.

The Lady Cats will begin their district schedule this Tuesday as they travel to Houma to face the H.L. Bourgeois Lady Braves at 4 p.m.
