Coaches from around the country vie for local football talent

Destrehan’s Jai Eugene is indeed one of the most highly recruited football players in the country who has not verbally committed yet, but there are three more highly regarded players in the River Parishes who have coaches from across the country in the area to trying secure their services. East St. John wide receiver Ricky Dixon is being heavily pursued by Miami (Fla.), LSU, Florida, Arkansas and Ole Miss. Louis Lee, who also was a top wide receiver at East St. John, is being recruited by Illinois, Ole Miss, West Virginia and Southern Mississippi.

Locket courted by several colleges Hahnville defensive end Kentrell Lockett is being courted by the likes of Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Arkansas and UCLA.

Isaac verbally commits to Southern Illinois Hahnville High School running back Terrance Isaac has verbally committed to attend Southern Illinois University. Isaac earned 1st team All-Metro honors despite playing on a bad ankle during the 2005 season. He rushed for 1,178 yards on 199 carries and scored 8 touchdowns as a senior. Isaac becomes the second prominent Louisiana running back to attend Southern Illinois within the past few years. Former Assumption High School star halfback Brandon Jacobs also attended Southern Illinois before he was drafted in the 4th round of the 2005 NFL draft by the New York Giants.

Mike D’s Prediction: Saints-17 Detroit Lions-16
