Hail to the Chief DHS graduate Parquet picked by Kansas City in 7th round of NFL Draft By Eric LeBlanc Destrehan graduate Jeremy Parquet finally heard his name called on Sunday in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. The Southern Mississippi offensive lineman was projected to go in the fourth round, but he had to wait until the seventh round and the 238th overall selection. Parquet follows Rondell Mealey, Ed Reed and Mike Scifres as the fourth former Destrehan Wildcat to be taken in the NFL Draft in recent years. Parquet was a three-year starter with the Golden Eagles, helping them to the 2003 Conference-USA Championship and a Liberty Bowl berth. He also helped lead them to a 31-10 2004 New Orleans Bowl victory over North Texas. The Norco native was a second team All-Conference USA selection in 2004 and a first team honoree in 2003 as well. He was also part of an offensive line that only allowed 19 quarterback sacks this season. Parquet was also a three-year starter at Destrehan under Head Coaches Scott Martin and Stephen Robicheaux. He was an All-Metro selection in his senior year, as he did not allow a sack during the entire season. Super Prep rated him in the Louisiana Top 40 while he was also mentioned as a Top 25 Prospect by Louisiana Football Magazine. He earned a 9.25 rating by Jeff Whitaker’s Deep South Recruiting and Pigskin Preps rated him as the 12th best offensive tackle prospect in the Southeast.
