The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a search for an unknown black male who is the supposed gunman in an armed robbery that occurred on Sept. 4 at the Race-Trac in St. Rose.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 26-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint while working at the service station.
At approximately 4 a.m. the unknown suspect entered the store and pointed a chromed colored handgun at the employee, demanding money and cigarettes.
The victim, whose identity is being protected, complied with the robbers demands, and was then ordered into the women’s restroom and was told to count to ten.
After about a minute passed, the victim exited the restroom and called for the police.
According to a store manager for the east bank Race-Trac, this is the first robbery at their location.
The manager also stated that it is store policy that the main entrance of the business is locked at 10 p.m. and all patrons are to be assisted at the walk-up window.
It appears that the employee on duty, assuming that the man was of no harm, unlocked the doors and allowed him to enter the store to purchase goods.
Although the incident was recorded by the store’s security camera, it is still under investigation, and anyone with any information should contact the sheriff’s office at 783-6807 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-903-STOP.
