Des Allemands firefighters awarded

The Des Allemands Volunteer Fire Department recently handed out awards to numerous firefighters and fire line and administration officers were announced.

Awards went to the following firefighters for their work during 2013: Rookie of The Year - Tara Bate; Firefighter of The Year - Harley Ford; Fire Chief’s Award - Ellis Sevin III and Rachel Cortez; President’s Award - Nathaniel Stewart; President’s Award Junior- Crystal Sparks; Training Officer Award - Jamie Cortez; EMS Award - Blake Breaux; Senior with the most training hours - Tracy Sparks with 504 hours; Junior with the most training hours - Crystal Sparks with 267 hours; Perfect Attendance Tracy Sparks and Crystal Sparks; Senior member with one year of service - Katelin Schmill; Junior member with one year of service - Taylor Cortez and Nicholas Linn; Senior members with three years of Dedication to Duty - Deborah Loupe and Perry Loupe; Appreciation Awards - Rickey Naquin, Mercedes Truxillo, Tommy Corley Sr. and Andrew Metrejean.

Fire Line Officers are Fire Chief Todd Sparks, Assistant Fire Chief Jamie Cortez, Assistant Fire Chief Ellis Sevin III, Safety Officer Perry Loupe, Training Officer Brian Champagne, Captain  Blake Breaux; Lieutenant Harley Ford, Captain  Trey Cortez, Lieutenant Philip Deist and Junior Coordinators Harley Ford and Tara Bate.

Administration Officers are President Rachel Cortez, Vice-President Tara Bate, Secretary/Treasurer Tracy Sparks, Chaplain Nathaniel Stewart and Sergeant of Arms Valerie Breaux.

Swearing in at the ceremony was handled by L.J. Frickey.
