Louisiana State University, leading the way in the advancement of knowledge and intellectual inquiry, is proud to announce that Jared Able has received appointment as a Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (LA-STEM) Research Scholar.
Able was selected from a field of over 468 nominees after successfully completing the rigorous application process as well as several interviews and a team project during Selection Weekend.
This scholarship, which focuses on scholarly undergraduate productivity and success, is one of the most prestigious awards offered by the University.
As a LA-STEM Research Scholar, Able will be awarded a college scholarship valued at over $12,500 per year, which includes room and board, books, a cash stipend, eligibility for additional travel funds along with an appointment in academic year research, and an opportunity for research positions in the summer at other prominent institutions. Additionally, he will receive automatic admission to the LSU Honors College.
Funded by National Science Foundation and the Louisiana Board of Regents, the LA-STEM Research Scholars Program involves much more than a scholarship.
Students are mentored and supported as they learn to use academic enhancement tools that will increase their success at the undergraduate and graduate levels. They participate in undergraduate research where they are trained to be fair, honest and consistent in their education and research practices.
Students perform community service and act as mentors, truly getting the most out of their college experiences as they prepare to pursue terminal degrees in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
They also join a diverse community of learners who understand that mentoring, education, and research can be the foundation for undergraduate and graduate achievement.
LSU is proud to present this prestigious award as a LA-STEM Research Scholar to Jared Able in pursuit of a degree in Mathematics.
