4 teens charged with beating, robbery of Luling man

By Jonathan Menard - February 17, 2012

Four teens have been arrested and charged with armed robbery after authorities say they beat a Luling man before stealing money from his wallet.

Brandon Hill 19, of 13737 Louisiana 631 in Boutte, and Ernest O. Thompson, 18, and Brian B. Thompson, 18, both of 1102 Kinler St. in Luling, were arrested last Wednesday and booked with armed robbery. Doren L. Scott, 18, of 317 St. Nicholas St. in Luling, was arrested on Monday and also charged with armed robbery.

All four remain in jail.

According to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, a spokesman with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the four men approached the victim in the 1300 block of Paul Frederick Street and started a fight. During the fight, the victim was struck in the face with a closed fist and fell to the ground. While he was lying on the ground, authorities say the men punched him in the face. They also believe the victim was hit in the face with a PVC pipe.

The victim, who police say was able to identify his attackers, also told authorities that the men took his wallet and stole his cash.

"It looks like something triggered this from a prior incident between the victim and his attackers," LaGrange said.

He added that the four men are being charged with armed robbery because a PVC pipe was allegedly used during the crime.

Ernest Thompson was a star running back for the Hahnville Tigers in 2011, receiving 1st team All-District honors. He rushed for 863 yards on 143 carries and scored 13 touchdowns.
