Tired of your old plants? Trade them at the Oktober Fest

By Staff Report - October 11, 2006

The German Coast Farmers Market will celebrate its Oktober Fest on Saturday, Oct. 21.

A special feature of the celebration will be a plant exchange, which continues to be a festival highlight for gardeners in St. Charles Parish.

Participants are asked to bring one, well-established, healthy and disease-free specimen in a gallon-sized container.

Each plant should be labeled as accurately as possible, and should include the botanical or common name, and “cultural information,” such as whether the plant prefers sun or shade, should be placed indoors or out, watering tips, etc. Perennials are preferred to annuals if flowering plants are entered.

This event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the drawing for the exchange at 11 a.m.
