St. Charles to honor former councilman

St. Charles Parish President Albert D. Laque and Council Chairman Brian Fabre today announced that former Councilman Curtis T. Johnson, Sr. will be recognized for his service to St. Charles Parish at the June 19, 2006 Parish Council Meeting.

"Curtis was the first African-American elected to the Police Jury and to the Parish Council," said Laque. "He was a friend to everyone who called upon him and he always tried to help whenever he could."

Councilman Johnson passed away on January 27, 2004. "We invite the public to join the family of Mr. Johnson, the Parish President and the Parish Council at the ceremony which will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 19 in the Council Chambers of the Parish Courthouse, 15045 River Road in Hahnville," said Fabre.
