The St. Charles Parish Department of Community Services has received funds for the Weatherization Program administered by the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency.

The program offers assistance to those in need to increase the energy efficiency of their homes, reduce their energy expenditures, and improve the health and safety of their environment, especially of low-income persons who are particularly vulnerable such as elderly, the handicapped, and children.

Funds may provide typical measures such as installing insulation, sealing ducts, tuning and repairs, heating and cooling system, mitigating air infiltration, and reducing electric base load consumptions.

Applications will be taken at the office of St. Charles Parish Department of Community Services, 14654 River Road in New Sarpy, La. Applications will be taken on Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning June 20. Each applicant must bring in proof of their household income for the previous four weeks and their utility bill (light and gas).

For households with more than ten members, add $76.00 for each additional member.

Acceptance and participating requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability and there will be no discrimination in the course of this service.
