Michael J. Foster, 28, River Ridge and Brad McPhail, 19, St. Rose

A St. Rose man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot a River Ridge man in the head during a drug transaction gone horribly wrong.

On the evening of May 23, St. Charles Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting at a location on Riverview Dr., in St. Rose. At the time, the victim, Michael J. Foster, 28, of River Ridge, was coherent and told officers he was shot in the head during an attempt to purchase marijuana from Brad L. McPhail, 19, of St. Rose.

During the investigation, officers located cocaine and crack cocaine in the possession of the victim, Foster.

Deputies transported Foster to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries to the head. Upon his release, Foster was arrested and booked for charges including possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana. Foster's bond was set at $150,000 by Judge Granier.

The shooter, McPhail, was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and armed robbery after he allegedly stole $600 from the victim.

A juvenile, age 15, whose name was withheld do to his age, was with McPhail and was charged with principle to second degree murder. Judge Granier set the juvenile’s bond at $100,000 and he is currently being held at St. James Juvenile Facility.

McPhail is currently being held on a $750,000 bond set by Judge Granier.
