HAHNVILLE - Dow St. Charles Operations in Hahnville will accept applications through today for the 2007 Dow Community Grant Program.
The St. Charles Operations has allocated $50,000 for community service projects in St. Charles Parish.
Grants will be selected on a competitive basis, with a maximum of $5,000 awarded per selected project.

DESTREHAN - Niki Walker Salon will hold a Locks of Love benefit Sunday, July 22 from noon to 5 p.m. at the new salon located at 1970 Ormond Blvd., Suite C in Destrehan.
Stylists will provide free haircuts to people who donate 10 inches of hair or more, and others will receive haircuts for a monetary donation to the organization.
The non-profit organization provides human hairpieces to disadvantaged children who suffer hair loss because of diease or medical therapy.

NORCO - The 10th Annual St. Charles Parish of Plenty Pageant for children will be held on Saturday, July 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 375 Spruce St. in Norco starting at 10 a.m.
Proceeds benefit the St. Charles Festival Pageant Scholarship Fund and winners will be announced at the festival that evening at Destrehan High School.
The dress is Sunday best for all divisions with an entry fee of $40, which includes the photogeneic category.
The deadline to register is Friday, July 27, although registration will be accepted at the door with a $5 late entry fee.
Please also bring a photo and arrive 30 minutes prior to your child’s division time to check in.
All girls are invited to be a contestant in the St. Charles Parish Festival Queen’s Contest on Saturday, July 28 at 7 p.m. in the Destrehan High School auditorium.
All contestants must be a resident of St. Charles Parish and be between the ages of 13 to 16 yesrs of age for the Teen Pageant and 17 to 23 for the Miss Pageant.
The entry is $75 for the Teen Pageant and $100 for the Miss Pageant. There is also an optional photogenic category and the entry fee is $10.

The organization’s commitment is to nurture mothers by providing them with creative and educational opportunities for personal growth as a mother.
MOPS has been part of the St. Charles Parish community since 2000 and is a faith-based group sponsored by The Bible Center Church located at 422 Barton Ave. in Luling.
Bi-monthly meetings are held from September through May. On the first Thursday meetings begin at 6 p.m. and at 9:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month.

NEW ORLEANS - The 4th Annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off is Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans in the Louisiana Foodservice Expo and the Gulf Coast Seafood Pavillion.
Competitors from 19 states will go head to head in the event sponsored by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board.
The top-scoring chefs will compete in a Day 2 lagniappe cook-off event, preparing a quick and easy seafood dish to consumers on the go.
The event is open to the public. Tickets will be on sale at the door.
