River Region Chamber supports ETHICS REFORM
Special to the Herald-Guide - May 17, 2007
Dear Editor: With the Louisiana session underway, it is interesting to note that a group of more than 50 organizations from around the state have joined forces as LA Ethics 1 to push an impressive package of governmental ethics reforms in the Legislature.
I have been following the progress of this legislation closely and would like to encourage your readers to do the same. For too long, our state has been hampered by the public perception of governmental corruption. This perception has hurt our economic development efforts and our reputation.
At a time when our state continues to focus considerable resources on rebuilding our hurricane-ravaged areas, we should also focus on improving our image and to being a national model for governmental ethics laws and enforcement.
The LA Ethics 1 legislation could move Louisiana from the bottom to the top of governmental ethics rankings. I hope citizens contact their senators and representatives to support it.Chassity McComack,
Executive Director, RRCC
