River Parish queens SHINE at state beauty convention

Ashlyn Falgout, River Parishes Fall Festival Miss Queen of Hearts and Ashley Wilking, St. John the Baptist Parish Andouille Festival Miss Queen won top awards at the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Queen of Queens Pageant in Baton Rouge.
Setting a milestone, this marked the first time either festival had a contestant named to the top five.
Chelsea Troxler of Luling, representing the Louisiana Gumbo Festival in Chackbay also garnered a first for her pageant by being named to the top 15.
Falgout, the 21-year-old daughter of Coral and Stacie Falgout of Destrehan was named 1st Alternate to the 2007 Queen of Queens.
She is a junior at the University of New Orleans majoring in Communications and Marketing with a concentration in Public Relations and was recently named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Wilking, named 3rd alternate, is the 17-year-old daughter of Kevin and Paula Wilking of LaPlace. She is a senior at Reserve Christian School and plans to attend Louisiana State University majoring in Mass Communications and Public Relations.
The pageant, where 88 queens competed for the coveted title, highlighted the annual Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Convention.
Events began with the interview competition and was followed with an evening gown preliminary.
Outgoing pageant coordinator, Janet Piraro was honored Saturday night for her dedication and many years of service.
Assisting with the event and named as the new pageant coordinators were Doreen Landry, Millie Harris, Cheryl McCarty, Judy LeBlanc, Linda Jennings and Susan Sennet.
