St. Rose teen threatened to shoot students, police say

By Jonathan Menard -   Oct 10, 2013

A 14-year-old St. Rose boy was arrested after police say he made threats in a chat room to shoot up a North Carolina school.

The boy’s alleged threats came to light on Oct. 6 and the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office immediately began an investigation.

According to Sheriff Greg Champagne, the teen told students of a school in Fayetteville that he would shoot them and even obtained their names through a social media account to make them think the threats were real.

Once questioned by officers, police say the boy admitted to making the threats in order to see the reaction of the students in the chat room.

The boy has been charged with terrorizing and is being held on a $100,000 bond at the Assumption Juvenile Detention Center.

His name was not released by authorities because he of his age.
