Jonathan Menard - Sep 26, 2013
Only a freshman, former Hahnville High School quarterback Easton Melancon has already been named the starter for Louisiana College (2-1).
Melancon’s first start came Saturday in a close 34-27 loss to Huntingdon College. Melancon completed 12 of his 35 pass attempts for 157 yards and a touchdown.
Melancon’s quick rise to the starting position began in the first week when he helped lead Louisiana College to a 38-7 win over Belhaven University. In that game, Melancon’s first pass went for a 27-yard touchdown.
In the second game of the season against Webber International, Melancon secured the starting spot after entering the game in the second half and leading Louisiana College to a 16-12 come-from-behind win.
Melancon went 16-for-37 in the win with 230 yards passing.
