Ned Joseph Girouard

Ned Joseph Girouard, 84, passed away on June 8.
He was a native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Broussard. Girouard retired after 41 years serving as a Bridge Tender with Southern Pacific Railroad in Des Allemands, Harvey, Morgan City, Baldwin and Delcambre. While living in Bayou Vista, he also worked part-time for St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He enjoyed working outdoors, playing practical jokes, relaxing with a cigar, fishing and the camp in Stephensville. Ned served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of WWII.
Girouardís loving wife of 65 years, Joycelyn Talbot Girouard of Broussard, passed away three weeks after him.
He is survived by his daughter Donna and her husband W.F. "Billy" Stanley Jr. of Morgan City; his grandson Craig and his wife Mandy Mayo Viator of Youngsville; his three beautiful great-granddaughters Lily Grace, Ava Rhea and Ella Faye Viator. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, dear friends and extended family.
Girouard was preceded in death by his parents Elie and Lucille Gautreaux Girouard; six brothers John, Dennis, Robert, Alvin "CoCo," Earless, and Allen Girouard; and five sisters Carmen Viator, Jeanette Bernard, Nola Girouard, Bernice Girouard and Gertrude Viator .
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on June 11.
Craig Viator, William "Billy" Stanley, David Girouard, Mark Girouard, Larry Girouard and Carl Girouard served as pallbearers. Internment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery.
Girouardís family wish to thank Hospice of Acadiana for their compassion and caring during the last four months of his life.
