Luling man shot to death on Saturday
Jonathan Menard - Jun 06, 2013
An argument between two Luling men led to a murder on Saturday night.
Darryl Davis, 21, reportedly got into a fight with 23-year-old Quinn Coleman in a small Luling neighborhood located off River Road near Barton Avenue.
Davis lives with his grandmother on Louis the First Street and Coleman was over at the house visiting Davis' sister, according to Capt. Pat Yoes, spokesman for the St. Charles Parsih Sheriff's Office.
Yoes said the fight began when Davis asked Coleman to leave the residence because of problems he was causing at the home. As the confrontation escalated, Davis allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Coleman in the chest.
Coleman was rushed to St. Charles Parish Hospital, but died before he arrived. Davis was arrested by deputies a short time later at Monsanto Park.
This is the third murder in St. Charles Parish this year. On March 23 Deaneal "Woodie" Rachal was found shot to death on the sidewalk on Summertown Drive in the Charlestowne section of St. Rose.
Bobby McCray, 18, was shot to death in St. Rose in January. Four men - Janerio Dewey, 23, Ramon Vinnett, 21, Joshua Avery, 24, and Calvin Avery Jr., 19 - were arrested in connection with the shooting.
Sheriff Greg Champagne said that Coleman's murder was the first murder in over two years to take place on the West Bank of St. Charles Parish.
